Why choose a licensed family day home?
Affordability Grant
Families that are enrolled in an approved child care program may automatically apply for the Alberta Affordability Grant. This is a separate “grant” than child care subsidy and something families do not have to apply for. The grants are provided directly to the day home agency so they can apply them to your child care bill. Funding is provided for each child based on how many hours the child is in care, the age range and type of care. Focus on Child Development
We are passionate about what we do and stay up to date on the latest research on child development by attending conferences and hosting regular learning opportunities locally.
Quality Enhancement & Safety
We hold in-home quality enhancement visits on a monthly basis. This includes programming visits, how to engage children in play, and provide support as needed. Toys and equipment must meet safety standards. Providers must maintain a clear Criminal Record Check and Child Welfare Check. Every provider is also trained in Child Care First Aid.
Warmth of a Home Environment
We encourage a natural child care setting where children can use their imaginations, receive more one-on-one time, and build their social skills.
Health & Nutrition
Educators are required to follow the Canada Food Guide when preparing meals and snacks. Snacks must consist of two food groups. Lunch must consist of all four food groups. Educators are required to promote healthy habits such as hand washing. Prior to opening for the day, educatorss are required to complete a safety check of their home.
Workshops
We hold monthly educator meetings where we have guest speakers, complete online courses, or complete some professional development activities. Past topics include: child intervention, child safety restraint, hand washing, menu planning, and documentation tips.
Positive Child Guidance
We believe in positive child guidance, which focuses on the positive points of behavior. It is actively helping children learn how to handle situations appropriately while remaining calm and respectful. The agency encourages communication between the parent and educator to ensure the most consistent and best care for the child.
Backup Child Care
When possible (when there is more than one day home in a community) we will help arrange backup care arrangements with another day home educator with our agency if your regular provider is unavailable.
Educated Educators
Our educators are well educated and open to new ideas, with many having their Level II (Child Care Assistant) completed.
Outdoor Play
We believe that playing outdoors every day in all kinds of weather helps children create the habits they will need to lead a healthy and active life.
Experience
Having been in business for over 20 years, we are a professionally-run agency with many ties to our community.
Subsidy
Families that are enrolled in an approved program may qualify for Government Child Care Subsidy. Please use the following link to learn more. If you should require any assistance please call the office @ 780-385-2488 or refer to the Government of Alberta Child Care Subsidy Website.
